Afro Punk is holding an open call for hot ladies w/tattoos!

We’re looking for the baddest tattooed afro-punk chicks on Earth! If that’s you, you could be one of the models in the Afro-punk/Denim and Chrome 2012 Calendar.
Here’s the skinny: this year’s Afro-punk Festival will feature a custom bike show, which will serve as the backdrop for the calendar photo shoot. Dope photographer Darius Vick will be taking the pictures, so you know it’s gonna be fierce.
If you’re going to be at the Festival (August 27th-28th), and you’re interested in being featured in this hot calendar for bike fans around the globe, email us your name, age and pics to festival2011@afropunk.com.
All our rebels, bad-ass ladies, alternative beauties of all shapes and sizes, get in touch!

This year’s festival even featured Black Punk pioneers, Pure Hell! Well, 2009 is not over yet and AP is making the most of it by kicking off the first ever Afro-Punk Tour. Saul Williams headlines this historic lineup, which also features Houston, Texas natives American Fangs, who have also taken 2009 by storm with the release of their first EP, self-titled American Fangs. Over the next few weeks, as the AP tour makes its way across the country, I will be teaming up with the Fangs to give you an up close and personal look at life on the Afro-Punk tour from their point of view, in their words!

Lots of Brooklyners are planning on attending Afropunk. If you’re not from NYC Metro, check out Couchsurfing to perhaps find a nice person to hang out with, have a drink/coffee, or even spend a night with.

In 2005, the very first annual Afro-Punk Festival debuted to wildly enthusiastic crowds at the iconic Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).The festival celebrated and unified the cultural cornerstones of Afro-Punk: music, film, and most importantly, the fiercely independent and influential individuals that are the lifeblood of the AP community. The festival has become a highlight every summer since.

This summer Afro-Punk, BAMcinematek and Toyota will present the 4th annual Afro-Punk Festival, taking place July 4th -July 13th, 2009 in the heart of Brooklyn, NY.

The festival is the definitive destination for the global Afro-Punk community and audiences yearning to experience true AP culture. Last year 30,000 people attended the festvial, and this year is expected to be even bigger, featuring 40 bands, 15 films being screened, a visual art exhibit and a skate park featuring 30 pro BMX riders and 15 Pro skaters from around the country.
